According to a recent survey conducted by RealSelf, a website that details numerous plastic surgery procedures, more women are electing to have cosmeticsurgery donethan ever before.
A poll of 700 people found that 44 percent had put off life changing events such as buying a home or having children to undergo a procedure. One-third of those polled said they have delayed a vacation, home improvements and even marriage.
"It's something that's becoming more available and socially acceptable," Tom Seery, CEO of RealSelf, says of the trend. "We're seeing in our data that people come from all over the country, all demographics, and all slices of household income."
In 2014 alone, Americans spent $12.9 billion on cosmetic surgery,electing to have over 15 million procedures performed in total. Almost 14 million of thesewere minimally invasive, such as injections or Botox. In addition, the majority of those undergoing procedures, almost 50 percent, are between the ages of 40-59.
Many of those polled don't see their plastic surgery as putting off other life events, but ratheras a part of an overall plan toward self-improvement and genuine happiness.
