Juvederm Voluma XC is injected by Dr. Marotta at his Long Island location using a small, fine needle. Although a patient may experience minimal discomfort during the injection, topical anesthetics, ice or local anesthetics can be used to eliminate any pain afterward.
After the first injection, a brief pause will be taken to allow the lidocaine in the injection to take effect. Voluma is then injected in small amounts over the treatment area until the desired effect is achieved. A massage technique may be used during this time to ensure that the injection is distributed evenly.
Immediately following the procedure, an ice pack may be applied for a brief period to minimize swelling and reduce pain.
