Turn back the clock with these anti-aging foods
Aging can sometimes be a strange process. Despite being happy, exercising regularly and great on the inside, your
outsidelooks might notseem to reflect this. So what's the issue? It may be what you're eating. Granted, making a few
changes to your diet, won't turn back the clock decades, but certain foods can improve your overall health and
vitality.
Here are a few items that you may want to add to your diet:
- Anti-aging protein boost: Beans - They're high in protein and much lower in fat than meats. If
you want to keep looking young, you'll need to eat lean.
- Youthful omega-3s: Fish - Everyone seems to be taking fish oil supplements these days, likely
because they contain omega-3 fatty acids, known to boost heart health. Research suggests that individuals who
regularly consume fish tend to live longer.
- Antioxidant armor: Fruits and veggies - "Antioxidants in colorful fruits and vegetables (leafy
greens, red tomatoes, blueberries, carrots, etc.) help stop molecules that may damage healthy skin cells,"
states the website Smart Beauty Guide. "[...] There are three antioxidants in particular that can help with this
process - vitamin C, zinc and beta-carotene. Make sure you're getting enough."
- Complex-carbohydrate support: Whole grains - You've probably heard plenty about the importance
of eating items like oats, whole wheat and brown rice. Whole grains are rich in fiber and vitamins and minerals.
Be sure that you're not eating refined grains, however, as this process often strips the foods of essential
nutrients.
